From September 2022, Southampton Cultural Education Partnership is piloting a Cultural Curriculum for Southampton.

Teachers and student will work together with creative practitioners to co-design and create a Cultural Curriculum for Southampton, that supports delivery of Cultural Capital and aligns with Southampton City Council’s Future Work framework which prioritises levelling up, skills development and social capital.

We are looking for four Southampton education settings to partner up with four local arts and culture providers. Together, you will focus on a key part of your curriculum with your students and co-devise a scheme of work designed to enhance your students’ learning through culture.

This opportunity will play a significant role in your school’s Artsmark journey, and student participants will gain Arts Award certification. We will also embed Arts Award in cultural education provision by training teachers and practitioners as Arts Award advisors.

We will be asking each of our four selected education settings to put forward a member of teaching staff to lead on the project together with their students. The time commitment may vary dependent on each school/partner organisations’ agreed plans over a 6-month period. A budget for teacher cover (based on 3 days per setting) is available to each school.
